Poplar Stamp Gap

Day 5 of the Trail: 12.8 miles hiked

We left Neel's Gap, after our group meeting, later than normal for me and Thomas. We were on the trail by 8:15 am; feeling good after almost a full 24 hours of rest.

This particular part of the trail has been very kind and beautiful and our pace was much faster than previous days but it didn't feel bad at all. We got to Poplar Stamp Gap around 4, pm which is just past Low Gap Shelter and slowly the whole group, except one, made it in.

It was a fast pace day and fairly uneventful but very pretty. This sets us up for a short 8.6 or so mile hike to our next stop. The views on this past 12 miles have been awesome. Although half of the time we were in fog but when it did clear up we were lucky enough to see some really stunning views.

Tomorrow we will be received by the best Hiawassee, GA has to offer. I am looking forward to a buffet and resupply.
